About Translate PDF

Translate PDF reads the text in your PDF in your browser and translates it into the language you choose. In a recent desktop version of Chrome the translation runs on your device with Chrome’s built-in translator, which is free and private. Where Modyfiles server translation is switched on, it also works in other browsers. The translation appears next to the original text, and you can download it as a text file or a simple PDF. The download contains the text only: the original layout, images and formatting are not kept.

How to use Translate PDF

  1. Upload your PDF. Its text is read in your browser.
  2. Choose the language it is written in and the language to translate into.
  3. Click Translate and watch the translation appear next to the original.
  4. Download the translated text or a PDF of it.

Will the translated PDF look like the original?

No. You get the translated text only, in a plain readable layout. The original layout, images and formatting are not kept.

Can I translate a scanned PDF?

Not directly, because a scan is a picture of text. Run OCR PDF first to turn it into text, then translate the result.

How accurate is the translation?

Machine translation is good for understanding a document but can miss nuance. Have important legal or medical documents checked by a professional translator.

Is Translate PDF free?

Yes. You can use Modyfiles tools for free, and you do not need an account for your first 10 files. A paid plan raises the daily limits and the maximum file size.

Do I need to install anything to use Translate PDF?

Will this change my original file?
